Hummus (Garbanzo Dip)
1/3 cup toasted sesame seeds*
1/8 teaspoon crushed red chilies
2 cups cooked**, drained garbanzo beans or one 16-oz. can, drained
1/4 cup lime juice
1/2 teaspoon each minced garlic and salt

tablespoons olive oil
Pita bread, Armenian cracker bread or sesame crackers
Carrot and celery sticks, cucumber slices and/or cherry tomatoes
Process sesame seeds and chilies in food processor or blender until finely ground, add beans. Purée. Add lime juice, garlic and salt; mix until smooth. Add oil and process until well-blended. Spoon into serving bowl; cover and let stand at room temperature 1 hour to blend flavors. Serve with bread or crackers and/or vegetables for dipping. Makes 1-1/2 cups.
Storage Tip: For longer storage, cover tightly and refrigerate. Bring to room temperature before serving.

*To Toast Sesame Seeds: Spread sesame seeds in shallow pan. Toast at 350ºF. 8 to 12 minutes until golden brown; stir frequently.
